The brief for this project was to design an urban space within the Miami Design District that would draw in a new public. Currently, the Miami Design District is a very affluent area that predominantly appeals to shopping tourists who visit the many designer stores in the area.
Growing up in New York City, I regularly walk past communal gardens where people are able to rent a plot to grow their own produce or plants. I was inspired by this and designed a communal garden area suspended from Jade Alley, an art installation designed by Daniel Toole. Planters line the bridge and are adjustable, allowing for the boxes to be moved according to sunlight needs.
This project was nominated for and won the First Year Design Award at U-SoA.
